Canada Express Entry Latest Draw Invites 2,750 Applicants - Visa Solutions

2,750 people submitted applications for permanent residence in the Express Entry immigration stream in Canada on August 31, 2022. The most recent Express Entry draw was this one. Applicants who got Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of at least 516 were sent invitations. Candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) were eligible to be invited because no specific program was specified for this draw.

Since the first Express Entry program draw started on July 6, 9,750 applicants have obtained ITAs. Because these drawings had been postponed for more than 18 months, only individuals who qualified for permanent residency under the CEC or the Provincial Nominee Program were invited (PNP).

Highlights of the latest Express Entry the draw:

Draw category - Express Entry

Draw number - #230

Total number of invitations - 2,750

Minimum CRS – 516

For this draw, the 230th in Express Entry, the required CRS score was 516. The CRS dropped by nine points from the draw's previous CRS score on August 17, 2022.

The international COVID-19 pandemic was in full swing when the draws were suspended due to an excessive number of applications for permanent residency. The Canadian border was closed at this time, and the rules for travel were regularly changing.

What is Canada Express Entry?

Express Entry, a system for handling applications for skilled workers under federal economic programs, was introduced by the Canadian immigration authorities (IRCC) on January 1. This includes a component of the Provincial Nomination Programs, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canada Experience Class.

Stakeholders anticipate seeing a significant number of invitations back in July as Canada approaches its objective of adding 431,645 new permanent residents by 2022. The COVID-19 condition makes it challenging to predict
CRS scores using program-specific draws.

After the coronavirus outbreak struck in March 2020, Canada switched to program-specific lotteries for candidates for the Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program. As a result, there were far more individual drawings than in previous years.

What may candidates for Express Entry expect in 2022?

The period between the FSW and CEC draw periods saw a sharp rise in the number of candidates in the Express Entry pool. As a result, the IRCC predicted that the FSW and CEC CRS cut-off would likely reach above 500 and remain there for several months.

However, the Canadian government just approved Bill C-19. The bill gives Canada's immigration minister the authority to select candidates based on categories rather than just the CRS score. Because grouping-based draws would compare candidates to those in their group rather than the entire pool of candidates, the CRS cut-off will likely be far lower.

According to the current statistics, the CRS scores have steadily decreased since the start of the Express Entry draw in 2022, and the number of invitations has risen as a result. If you wish to immigrate to Canada permanently, now might be the perfect time to submit an Express Entry application.
